Ancient Greek Punishments and Failure

By nature Ancient Greek punishments are unwinnable. Designed to last forever the Ancient punishments were simple tasks that are extremely mentally and physically tasking. In Ancient Greek Punishment , the punishments tend to share very similar themes of self imposed perseverance, with the exception of Zeno and Prometheus, and being impossible . In the case of Sisyphus his motivation stems from out smarting Zeus and refuses to give up do to a sense of pride, Zeno wishes to demonstrate what he knows to be true but seeming impossible, Tantalus is driven by his own hunger and thirst, The Danaids want to wash themselves of their crimes, while Prometheus is at the full mercy of the eagle.

While I am no sure I do think that these different punishments are largely connected to the individuals drive and will. This can be said the same about video games. When playing this game there is no progression, but the only way not to lose is not to try. The only thing motivating the afflicted is their fear of not achieving their goal and being uncomfortable with not returning to their previous state of life. With video gamers this motivation to continue playing comes from the fear of failure rather than the want of success.
